Three Players, One Goal: Birmingham, Fujimoto, Kanya Official Recruitment

Birmingham City announced the official recruitment of Japanese soccer player Fujimoto Kanya. Birmingham City is a team where Korean national midfielder Baek Seung-ho plays. Last season, Lee Myung-jae, a fullback for the national team, was also included.

Birmingham announced on its official website on the 7th (Korea time) that it is pleased to officially announce the recruitment of Fujimoto Kanya.

"Midfielder Kanya, 26, joined Birmingham City on a free agent after his contract with Portuguese top flight Jill Vicent expired and has signed a three-year contract by the summer of 2028," the club said.

Kanya is Birmingham City's seventh Birmingham City recruit this summer, joining the team along with the same Japanese players, Tomoki Iwata and Kyogo Furuhashi"The midfielder played in Portugal's Primera Liga (first division) for the past four seasons and scored 10 attacking points in 30 games last season", he explained.

Kanya can also be seen as a competitor to Baek Seung-ho. He has an attacking midfielder as his main position.

Birmingham City played in the English third division last season and will play in the English Football League Championship (second division) next season. It became a club with three Japanese players. It is bittersweet for Korea. National fullback Lee Myung-jae left the team without much performance last season. Lee Myung-jae joined the K League 1 Daejeon Hana Citizen.

With the recruitment of Kanya, Baek Seung-ho's competition to become a starting player is also expected to intensify. As the position and play style overlap, fierce competition is expected.
